Father Matthew's family has its roots in Minnesota, but he's called northwest Iowa home for most of his life, growing up in Sibley, Iowa. He finished his undergraduate at Iowa State in Management Information Systems, but by then God led him on another path than he originally chose for himself. He studied for priesthood at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana, and Bishop Walker Nickless ordained him a priest of Sioux City in June 2017.

He first served as a priest in Le Mars at All Saints Parish and Gehlen Catholic Schools. Since 2020, he's called West Bend home, and proudly ministers to the people of Divine Mercy and Bishop Garrigan Schools.
